Watching the exemplar Case Management Meeting


We provided staff with the Case Management Meeting template and scripts. Staff then viewed the video of a CMM provided by the Diocese available from: https://sites.google.com/lism.catholic.edu.au/lyn-sharratt-collaborative/professional-resources/6-case-management-approach. Staff were asked to observe what worked, what they were wondering and what they believe will look different in our context.

Staff made note of the following:
The number of people in the meeting - was it necessary?
The use of the previous year's teacher in the meeting - what a great resource.
The amount of leadership at the table - is there a balance of voice?
What the teacher shared - was it instruction focused? 
What was shared as a possible 'go to next' - was it more around content then on the 'how to move the student in their learning?'

  The learning Collaborative team engaged with learning around the Assessment Waterfall Chart. We begun by analyzing the purpose of assessment. The learning focused on how every meeting should start with data and ensuring our instructional strategies move students to learning the deeper, broader concepts that sit beyond the context of the activity.   We also contemplated how learners best learn and how this might influence us as teachers of students and each other as professionals. CrT (Learning Progression) in the Classroom and AW as a framework to guide pedagogy

We are exploring ways to use the data wall to help our instructional practices in the classroom. First we mapped sentences to the CrT sections of the Learning Progressions. The little yellow ripped up numbers equate to where the sentence matches on the data wall CrT section. These sentence examples would become the Bump It Up Wall for students to compare themselves to. The teacher then used these sentences for their Bump It Up Wall. They specifically are using the strategy: 2 stars and a stair. This is the Bump it Up wall in its entirety. Then there are zoomed in photos of the specific sections of the BIUW. The star indicates what's right about the sentence. The stair helps the student to identify what is the step they need to move to the next level. The next level might match part of or all of the next CrT section we want the student to achieve. Going back to the Data Wall

The following staff meeting was presented by the Learning Collaborative team. Time was spent selecting students for the next CMM. Teachers completed a Chronicle entry using the Case Management Meeting template on Compass . There was also a d iscussion of support such as Drew’s time (Thursday 9:00am - 10:00am). His time can be booked to release staff for Learning Collaborative engagement and a timetable for purpose and booking was shared.  Kim Post shared how her time has been used by staff and announced her availability continues (Monday to Thursday 9:00am - 11:00am). Staff shared how she had modeled the unpacking of Learning Intentions, co-constructed Success Criteria with students, and coached teachers around the construction of BIU walls and anchor charts that support student learning.
